EMA Taekwondo Black Belts One-steps / Self-defense Techniques. These specific skills are required for our 2nd Degree Black Belts and up.

(reverse grip slash across face = two handed catch and elbow lock)
-Attacker steps his right foot forward and slices the weapon across your chest (from his right to left). The weapon is held with the blade near the forearm.
-Step or lean back your body back to avoid attacker’s first slide.
-As attacker comes back with a stab (from your right side), step your left foot forward and block attacker’s right elbow with both forearms. Grab on to attacker’s right wrist with your right hand (fingers up).
-Pull your right foot 90 degrees left and continue to apply pressure to attacker’s elbow, driving him to the ground.
-Once attacker is on the floor, a follow up technique can include placing your left knee down on top of his right elbow joint.
-Pull up attacker’s wrist with your right hand and break his elbow. Yell!
-Remove the weapon if it’s safe to do so, otherwise, get out to a safe distance with your guards up.
