Defend Yourself from Someone Pulling Out a Knife During a Fight Karambit Knife Fighting
“How to defend against an attacker who pulls out a knife during an altercation?” This is a great question that came from our last self-defense survey.
We have already covered self-defense from a straight-up knife attack, when an assailant is holding a knife from the very beginning. But what if you’re in the middle of a street fight, and your opponent suddenly tries to pull out a knife? That’s a scary situation that’s very likely to happen.
Nick’s definitive solution to this problem is all about using your tactical senses and feeling the attacker’s movements. Reading your opponent’s body language is extremely important — it will allow you to see or feel when he reaches for the knife and trap him before the blade is out.
The best thing to do is to practice your non-verbal communication skills by doing self-defense scenarios with different training partners. Everyone reacts differently, so it’s important to practice many times until you become familiar with various visual cues and movement patterns that the attacker might use.
