How to Build a Flat Board Knife Throwing Target Karambit Knife Fighting
After watching Ralph Thorn’s “Combat Knife Throwing” DVD, I was inspired to build a flat board knife throwing target. My weapons instructor, Michael Peloquin (who taught me how to throw knives and crack a whip), helped me build this target, made out of pine 2 x 6’s, after building one for our school. Total cost of this target was $40.
I painted a regulation bullseye target using Cold Steel’s Knife Throwing Challenge rules (6″, 12′, 18′ diameter rings). Furthermore, I added several 6″ circles to practice my accuracy at different heights.
I broke in my target by throwing 12″ Cold Steel Sure Flight Throwers using the no-spin underhand, overhand, wrap around, and side arm throw techniques. I also converted my “War Room” into a shooting gallery with a mini crossbow (R.I.P.) and a 5′ stock whip as my weapons and dog toys as my targets.
