Knife Stabbing Drill Karambit Knife Fighting

We probably all agree that knife attacks are extremely dangerous. Yet, sadly enough, only a few people take the time to learn how to defend themselves against a knife attack. We hope that you are one of the few people, who think that it’s essential to learn knife defense and understand how it really feels to get attacked by a crazy knife attacker.

In this video, we show you a knife drill that is performed on the ground.

As we all know, many fights end up on the ground. There are several variables that can happen during a fight; sliding, tripping, getting tackled, lose balance, etc. Therefore, it’s important to know and understand what it is like to be attacked while you are laying on your back.

This particular knife defense drill starts with the defender lying on the ground and the attacker placed on top of his “victim” while holding a knife with both hands in a stabbing position.

Note that this is simply a drill. Self-defense drills are performed to isolate a specific movement or a specific attack. They help you work on something specific such as trapping a knife or working on your footwork.

Back to the knife defense drill…The goal of the attacker is to stab his victim; he can pretty much do anything to stab his opponent, except striking. On the other hand, the defender must prevent his assailant from stabbing him by using his strength and ground fighting skills. When defending, the “victim” can trap the knife hand, use the “buck and roll” technique (to get back on top) or do whatever it takes to prevent his attacker from stabbing or cutting him.

To make it more challenging, the defender can close his eyes while performing this knife defense drill. It provides a good knowledge experience on how to feel the opponent’s energy and movements.

Always use semi-soft rubber knives to perform training that involves stabbing attacks. It makes it safer to train for knife defense since the weapon is not too soft (unrealistic) or too hard (cause injuries).
