2 Knife Defense Techniques That DON'T WORK KarambitKnives, com
We received and interesting question from Josh on the effectiveness of two specific knife defense techniques. The first one: “Is it effective to bite the hand of an attacker holding a knife?” The second one: “Is it effective to punch the hand of an attacker to make him drop the knife?”
There are many self defense systems out there teaching strange knife defense techniques. In theory these knife techniques seem to be logic, however, the problem is that some of these techniques are way too dangerous to use in real fight.
1 – Biting the hand once a knife has been trapped should really be avoided. Why would you want to place your mouth near a knife blade? Don’t risk getting injured using this technique. We’ll show you what to do instead.
2 – Punching the hand – In a life threatening situation, you will most likely not be able to use such a precision strike. Also, punching a hand holding a knife, involves way to many risk of injury. The knife blade is right there, why would you try to punch it and risk stabbing yourself?
Instead, if you manage to trap a knife you rather want to clear it away or pin it somewhere and strike back without wasting time.
If your attacker drops the knife, kick it out of the way if you can. This will prevent him from using it again.
Make sure that while you are doing all of this, you want to strike hard and fast! Throw in some palm strikes, elbows, neck cranks and eye gouges to your assailant.

What the fuck was this bullshit? :-/
What idiot would teach biting a knife hand, especially when you have far better options available?
More good stuff. My favorite that won't work; Strike the wrist and the back of the hand at the same time. It might work on youtube, no where else.
Ok. Decent beginning, but your most important thing is to disarm the blade. The longer it is in hand, the closer you are to a life altering mistake.
That is awesome and practical
What should I do in case of a knife attack?
how to stop someone who viciously come swinging knives in both hands towards you? I would like to see that part.
Nice video man ^^. I know how to defends, i training martial arts, but your advices on youtube are really good

Great video!
Hi Nick,i've seen so many vids about how to defend against knife attack,do you have any experience regarding defending against machete/Long knife ?just out of curiousity :)…
Your method is good. Trap the knife and neutralize. Then attack the vitals.
Don't bite the hand that stabs you.
nothing can be pecise with the tunnel effect
Keep it up nick!
Nick, you acknowledged the danger of a nick to your carotid artery, yet you grab in a way that exposes the veins inside your wrist. Moreover, once you had the "trap" against your body, it was your single arm against his, and he doesn't even need to break free – he only needs to twist or bend his wrist. Why surrender a two to one grip for this potentially very weak trap? And that's to say nothing of him being much stronger than you.
Usually like and agree with your stuff, but I have very real concerns with this. You choose the two most ridiculously bad examples to criticise, but your suggestions certainly raised questions.
I've never yet seen ANY knife defences that I think are reliable without half a decade of serious training. Most are palpably moronic.
Very good points made. A lot of advice on YouTube can get people killed fast.
Good points. Thx
Well done again! Thanks
Nick, really good
Video you know your stuff
So glad i subscribed to your channel, it's not like i really get a chance to practice these techniques much, but just having this knowledge in my head makes me feel safer.
Thanks nick, but wow people actually teach other people to bite the hand that has the knife? Man that is a little irresponsible
Awesome as always Nick – I'm 5'7 so most other guys are taller attackers lol I've seen many of those videos where they show that if you twist the wrist after trapping the knife the disarm will just be a matter of leverage. They always assume the opponent will be so awestruck by the technique that they will just let it happen or that the practitioner of the technique will apply it swiftly and seamlessly in a high stress, adrenaline filled situation. I applaud the fact you cut through the bs and show how the best way to survive is to keep it simple and that will be the best way to keep yourself alive.
Great video sir! I've watched almost all of your videos and the knowledge I've gained is very helpful to me! Keep it up man!
