from I share a few 突き構え Tsukigamae with the 短刀 tantō. The first palms the knife in a blade up position to tsuki to the throat. The pommel of the knife is supported by the heel of your palm to make a strong thrust. #bujinkan #短刀 #tanto #knife

Great video! Thank you!
Really excellent video. I'm always careful who I use the word "play" with, but it's great that you alluded to playing with the knife, in order to gain enough familiarity to confidently manipulate the blade from one grip to another. Likewise, I noticed in another comment that you stress doing these exercises with one's EDC knife- It's super important to not be scared of your own knife; at a certain point, every serious practitioner needs to get comfortable with live blades- they never lie, and always help us to remember our mistakes. Thanks for posting this.
Practicing grip changes is fundamental, especially given how the knife may slip due to blood, sweat, or just rapid motion. Being so accustomed to it, like it is a part of your hand, is key.
