Knife Fighting – Dynamic Knife Attack Drills KarambitKnives, com
If your opponent drops his knife, try to toss it away to prevent him from using it against you. Do not focus on trying to pick up the knife… Instead concentrate your energy on striking your attacker as quickly as possible. During those crucial seconds, seize the occasion to create a lot of damage to your attacker! Strike with all you’ve got!
This portion of the self-defense seminar is focused on knife defense. The drill is about practicing to parry a knife. Your training partner comes at you with a rubber knife and you need to parry the stabs and slashes. Your goal is also to move around, to trap the knife hand and strike your attacker with kicks.
Important: Always use cautious when training for knife defense. Use rubber knives to prevent injuries from happening.
During the seminar, Nick gave an example about knife defense psychology by sharing a sad story; an acquaintance of Nick (a young man) was mugged at knife point by 2 guys. As soon as the perpetrators fled, the victim ran after them to get back his chain, but they stabbed him to death.
This is a sad story indeed. The truth is that you don’t know how you will react when placed in a dangerous situation.
If you ever get mugged by multiple attackers, it’s suggested not to chase them. Like mentioned in the previous example, it’s too risky for what it is worth. It’s important to make the difference between an object and your personal safety.
With everything mentioned in this video, it would be good for you to practice knife defense drills with your training partner. When defending, don’t forget to use your low line kicks; they can distract your opponent and it will give you an opening to strike back higher with solid palm strikes or elbows.
Stay safe,
