Empty Hand Basic Fighting Stance KarambitKnives, com

qcreek11 Mar 31

A video demonstrating how to get into a basic fighting stance. This particular fighting stance can be seen in various types of mixed martial arts and kick boxing.

The body is oriented in a bladed position and the hands are raised in a high guard, both aspects contribute greatly to one’s defensive capabilities. Make sure that your elbows are aimed downwards to ensure that your rib cage is adequately defended. Your fists should be at about the height of your cheek bones, allowing excellent protection of your head/mid section area and allowing clear vision. Train hard, and be safe, my friends 🙂

As far as the Kung Fu stance that you described, I would say that is pretty typical for many Kung Fu and Karate methodologies- to have one arm dedicated to protecting your face, and the other one dedicated to protecting your midsection. The fighting stance in this video is designed to defend against an attacker that aims primarily for your face-as can be seen in the fighting styles of the local gang members that I've encountered.

Thanks for checking out my video 🙂

With respect to your observations, you are right that my stance and hand positions are not of any typical Kung Fu method. That's why I called my video' basic fighting stance' because for many self defense situations, this stance is quite good.

Thanks for checking out my video 🙂

I actually do not have any formal title for my skill; I train mostly on my own and therefore do not have a belt ranking system. I would call myself an advanced beginner if I had to rate my current skill. Thanks again for checking out my tutorial 🙂
