Karambits come from Indonesia. Don't know if anyone else mentioned it. It's a really common misconception that they come from the Philippines. Balisong also known as "butterfly" knives come from the Philippines.

I just pull mine out regularly and it catches on my pocket just fine. Put it lower on your pocket maybe. You shouldn't have to twist it at all.

I got the 479 for christmas… it doesn't open up the easiest and I've loosened the action some.

It seems like it could be quite useful for bud, patch, or flute grafting…maybe

A brief overview of the Karambit is on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karambit
It also links to "Ultimate Guide to Karambits": https://totalurbansurvival.com/education/tus-presents-your-ultimate-guide-to-karambit
For an ultimate, inexpensive, non-folding Karambit, get a carpet/linoleum knife at Amazon for less than $15.
