I'm late to the game but I have an idea about the clip location from the factory. I noticed that half of the clip lies directly on the lock bar when mounted on the frame side. Some frame locks are very difficult to unlock if there is any pressure on the lock bar. This could be why the clip is positioned on the finished side from the factory.
I kinda like that actually… not a karambit guy normally but the size and shape I really like

Decent looking knife. Not really my style and I really dislike wire clips. The blade looks like a good utility user though
