This is not true . So the only place i have seen this said about the ring is Quara and there is no source to back this up. The Spyderco ring hole is claimed to be for this purpose but i have studied the history of the krambit as well as other types but the krambif from its earliest mention the name krambit referred to the handle with the ring and a curved blade or "claw" . The orgins mainly was as a weapon but variations of the blade was used by fruit farmers. The earliest records about the ring describe for stability and to use in ounching
