Hi. My name’s Dan Delavan. I’m the owner/operator of Plaza Cutlery in Costa Mesa, California. We have a great selection and we also have a website, plazacutlery.com, and today we’re going to be talking about knives.

Tactical knives is a wide subject. Tactical knives go back as early as man started making knives, but most of us go by the merging of Phil Hartsfield’s tanto style blades with the chisel grind, beveled on one side, flat on the other, with Emerson’s folding knives and ended up with the CQC7, and that kind of started the mark of the regular Tactical knives.

There was still combat knives and so forth that goes way back, but the modern tactical knife, this is where it started from. Bob Terzuola was the other early knife maker that was involved doing tactical knives. Most of his knives usually have a black synthetic handle or (?), all easy to open Usually he uses the disk in which to open and he also, very early on, made some fixed blades, a lot of them usually in the tanto styles. And even a switchblade is still a tactical knife.

Most of what we sell today are just regular folding knives that you can open and close with one hand so it’s easy to get to. A pocket clip so you carry it in the pocket which most of these all have the clips on it. That way it’s easy to get to.

The most popular knife today is the regular folding knife that you can open and close with one hand that has a pocket clip so you carry it in the pocket instead of in a sheath on the belt where you’d have to open the sheath. You can just reach into your pocket to withdraw the knife.
