During my last trip at Bonsai West in Boston I had the chance to restyle a fantastic black hill spruce originally collected in Montana in 1995 by Andy Smith and Styled for the first time in 1995 by Master Masahiko Kimura during a convention in Atlanta. The tree was Won on a raffle from a bonsai enthusiast from Canada who got only one ticket for 1 dollar. After many years Michael Lewin the owner of bonsai West who was at the convention in 1995 and bought 400 raffle tickets was able to buy the desired tree. When Zuma and Michael showed me the tree during my first day at the Nursery I was happy to use it as demo material for the meeting on Sunday. During the years the tree changed and some branches selected at first styling became too strong and other too weak so was the chance to think about a full restyle. Personally I like to highlight the best trunk line and in this case the original back have the best transition and also interaction between shari and live vein. Woth the help of Zuma we jumped on the work and transform the tree with a total new look … looking forward to read your comment about the transformation!#BONSAI
