Small Space Considerations for Sharp Threats KarambitKnives, com
A few key points: this is a “light” demo and in a dynamic situation it may not be feasible to go for a Figure-4 or even an Under Hook. If that’s the case then a Push/Pin can buy you a “little” time to access your tool but if that’s not even possible because you’re unable to impede the attacker’s ability to turn back into you then the short distance and back door angle you’ve established should give you the time to draw and go to work.
Keep in mind that the goal here is to access a superior tool and get it into play. That is infinitely harder to do if you are squared to the threat with both hands focused on defending the incoming blade. You’ll have to fight to earn your draw with better positioning and whatever time advantage you can create.
As always, don’t just take my word for it. Try this out with your training partners slow at first to get some basic mechanical familiarization down and then progressively, and safely, increase the intensity, with protective training equipment, to see what you think for yourself.
For this demo I’m using the @nltsirt 110 and Chuck is using the @wakwakcompany padded edge trainer. Be safe out there my friends.
