I’ve had to escape a high rise after a 7.0 earthquake. I don’t ever travel without a flashlight on my nightstand along with a similar small go bag.
Another good tip is to laminate a family pic. In a disaster, lost child, etc, you can use for ID purposes and proof purposes.
Expensive watch = jewellery. As a man the only jewellery I need is my wedding ring. I do wear a watch but it is simply a tool, just as a belt or a knife knife is a tool. Would I spend thousand of dollars on a belt or a knife? To do so would be folly. For me my go-to 'tool' watches are those made by either Seiko or Citizen, though there are many other manufacturers who manufacture good time pieces without having to produce the wrist version of earrings.
Do you have eclipse mints in the USA ? There is the metal container and it is great for odds and ends, tiny torches, mini bic lighters,lock picks ,if you throw in a few mints on the top, who is to notice?
