Mastersmith Aaron Wilburn created this exceptional Kwaiken — combining Western and Eastern elements into a truly masterful work!
The blade was forged to shape from W2 carbon steel. A traditional clay zone heat treatment resulted a clear hamon traveling across the blade. The undulating line shows the transition between soft, supportive steel at the spine and hard cutting steel at the edge. The flats are forge finished.
Alligator leather is set on the full tang, This was then wrapped in traditional Japanese style with twisted rawhide. The resulting handle is exceptionally comfortable and dramatic.
The knife is accompanied by a pouch style custom leather sheath (also made by Wilburn).
