Tantojutsu, exploring western knife drill with kobudo waza KarambitKnives, com
Quick share following Wednesday’s Tantojutsu class. We have completed 6 weeks of Seigan no Kamae, and will be reviewing the keiko no ho this week before we move on.
When you include the nuances of handling the tanto, padding, checking, controlling, targeting, etc… it’s a massive amount of basics and can be overwhelming.
In this video, Andre and I were rolling through an application I learned many years ago while studying western knife (bowie expression), with the application of the tatojutsu seigan no kamae ashi sabaki.
There’s nothing here that’s ‘kata’ nor is it my ‘henka’, rather it’s an exercise meant to move around and opponent while applying a cut from the advancing front/middle all the way around to the back, hip flexor, applying a classical inside ‘pass and press’, to ‘crown cut’ finished off with an ‘under the chair’. This came out of a conversation about moving with Seigan no Kamae kihon.
Nothing spectacular, but I hope you enjoy.
