while i think the drill is fine, how come you do not give credit where credit is due ? it is essentially just a modified Sabayan/palasut drill from PKT/Insert other philipino kali system here.

  2. ok, so I get that this is a drill. However, there seems to be an assumption in this drill that this is a duel of sorts. In my mind there is no such thing as a knife fight. That makes the assumption that you will be trading blows.
What I do not understand in the first part of the drill is why when setting up for the pendulum you come across the face- Good, but seemingly use the pommel of the knife on the second step – why not come across the face directly to the arm with the blade, instead of the pommel and cut, sweep, then reverse cut to the tricep then go to the face again? After all, you want to inflict as much damage possible so that your adversary can no longer fight. There seems to be 2-3 opportunities missed to inflict that damage. Not criticizing as I understand this is a drill, just asking the question for practical application.

Unfortunately the drills you're demonstrating as thousands of other instructors teach is NOT the reality of a knife fight/attack. It's good for show and hand eye coordination but your training a neural pattern that will conflict when you are in an actual knife fight/attack. I don't mean any disrespect here but this type of instructions without qualifiers is instilling a false sense of confidence and security in the student. I speak from experience and not just my opinion. Peace brother…✌

Try this LARP in real life against a motivated attacker and you are gonna be mince meat.
