08:36 From an engineer perspective, any object, in this case a folder (a kind of knife), first it has to work, and then look nice, the other way around wont do it… in other words, beauty has nothing to do with function…
Love the simple elegance of the Rockwall
Speaking of blade steel… I don’t think VG10 gets enough love. I watch all these YouTubers put it down. I think they are way off. It sharpens very easily, it has decent edge retention, and is stainless. For the most part VG10 is less expensive than 154cm. Trust me this is a great steel.
9:50 Hey looks, it's me recording!

Since you didn't indicate the METHOD you use for sharpening…i deduce that you sharpen using a machine(belt, grinder, etc.)
…because the problem you stated very rarely occurs from manual/hand sharpening.
Not to brag or go "GURU" on the subject…just wanna help out.
2 Factors to consider:
1) HEAT TREATMENT
>>having the belt sharpener or the grinding stone spin too fast may have an effect on the heat treatment of the knife
>>even if you have a superior type of steel like M390 or Elmax, if the grinding is too fast, it makes the steel hot enough to
compromise the heat treatment. It won't hold the edge too long
>>on the other hand even if you have a cheap steal like 1095, if it has a good heat treatment, it will hold an edge even
after whacking the blade on a steel pan
Dutch Bushcraft Knives has a good video to prove this —> https://youtu.be/9g_Bfc6NNYA
2)BURR Alignment —>STROPPING
>>after cutting the cardboard or any edge abusing task a few passes quality leather strop should work.
using a good stropping compound would also help
Curious. A few years back I purchased a Kershaw Thistle. When I first saw it it seemed to me that this was the answer to making a liner lock finger safe but the design doesn’t appear to have taken off or gained much popularity. Was this because it was first introduced as a cheap made in China knife with low end materials? I still have mine and it still works flawlessly so am curious as to what your thoughts are on this particular knife locking design and why it didn’t take off.
No Buck 110 auto!?
OTF knives are completely illegal here in Germany. You are not even allowed to own one, let alone carry one. But for me personally that‘s not a problem. I do not like the looks of an OTF. Because of the necessary construction the handle is always kind of rectangular and the size of the blade is way too small compared to the size of the handle, also due to the mechanism.
Why isn’t warranty information discussed at all ? Do any companies offer a sharpening service for the life of the knife? Thanks
Every time I see the tactile I feel a need to make a purchase. The optical balance of the knife, when open is just perfect. The curves for thumb stud and lock gentle. The position of the thumb studs, in open, nestled right up to the handle gets them out of the way. Also, the profile of the closed knife, where the spine of the blade is nearly flush with the handles, is beautiful and makes it very easy on the pocket. And yes, I’ve said all this before. But, it still makes my heart skip.
