This is a clip that explains what you are supposed to do if you ever find yourself with a knife to the throat by a robber. Do not plan out how the situation will unfold, because that might end up killing you. You can only control the first seconds of the fight, after that, anything can happen…Expect the unexpected.

If you have a knife to the throat, one wrong move can end up killing you. The first thing you must do is listen to what your attacker is saying. If he wanted you dead, he would have most likely tried stabbing you right away.

This usually means, that if he has a knife to your throat, he wants something. If he wants a material object, like your wallet or your jacket, give it to him. It is not worth your life.

However, if your attacker has a knife to your throat and is telling you to get in the car and go with him somewhere, you need to start figuring out how you’re going to proceed to get out alive.

First things first, try and distract your opponent by speaking to him. By throwing information at him, you’ll manage to make him forget about his grip at your throat.

If you need to act fast, there are two ways you can defend yourself. You can either use one or two hands to trap the knife that is in your attacker’s grip. It honestly depends on your personal strength and capabilities.

If your attacker is much larger than you, you know that you cannot just trap it with one hand because you’ll lose your grip and he will have the upper hand afterwards.

Do what you are able to do to trap it, and from there, do whatever it takes to make it out alive, whether it’s making him lose his balance, striking him when he least expects it, etc.

Remember that a knife fight can unfold in any type of way and that anything is possible. Be aware and prepared for it.
