Longsword is definitely my weapon of choice, having said that , Katana is merely a Japanese Longsword :). Almost same stances , almost same tactics. Sure, no use of double edge, but a lot of similarities, using the distance and timing. Both are 3 foot long razors, they bound to have something in common. All is matter of historical context.
But I will sayt his, if I was to fight myself with the Longsword, while holding a Katana, my Katana wielding self would be defeated :).

I love the longsword. Versatile , great for offense, defense and multiple opponents. Works well in all ranges. Great arsenal of techniques. Cuts with both edges. Utilities every part of the weapon. Great balance and cutting and thrusting capabilities. But the knife is so important.
And I absolutely love the staff for its applicability and sheer damage factor. What can I say , I guess I love them all 🙂
