As I'm trying to mimic your arm motions it's a bit confusing between 'takes' when you're facing first L arm toward camera, then the next shot is R arm to camera. I'm having to re-orient myself to match and mimic. I understand you're trying to emphasize certain points, but it helps if you keep one or the other arm toward camera (i.e. downstage) the whole time as you move, slow motion, through the drill, like 5 or 6 stop points/freeze-frames through the motions. Like they say, 'Go slow, to Go fast".. Great videos, though, I've watched them over and over.

The TSA apparently allows screw drivers or most hand tools that are of 7 inches or less. Would a 6 3/4 inch flat head screw driver not be more effective than a tactical pen? Understanding it may look out of place of course carried in open view.

When I saw the length of the video I thought it was going to be a lot of promotional talk. Boy was I wrong. This video was hands down one of the best most informative self defense from multiple attack angles  I have seen in a while.

Thank you I use the uzi pen with the glass breaker point. I have learned a lot from your videos. Thank you so much for helping to keep my family safer I hope I never have to use it in that form but I train every day just in case.

    — Thank you very much for this instructive video. It's very important to have at least a basic knowledge of self-defense.  There are very nice people in this World but there are several others that would eliminate you if they had their opportunity to do that, so we have to protect ourselves and to our love ones.

in some states its carry a defence pen…however .if you attack someone with a pen in self defence.its legal … long as you sign your. signature .on there for head afterwards .and you leave your mobile number….written on there.cheek….

choreography is a wonderful thing. this is the typical shit, krav maga and the rest. doing a bunch of moves to the opponent while he waits patiently for you to finish. also, the fighting distance is completely unrealisitic.

Whoever think Tactical Pen is useless in real life situation, give some child a pen (10yrs old, not more) and let him hit you in any muscle you chose. Just once. Then let us know does it hurt and how much. My point is, every hit with TP, no matter in which part of body hurts like hell because of concentrated force. It is one of the best self defense tools you can wear. Training is always good, but with this tool you can get out of shit even without some serious training. If you attacked, just hit few times wherever you can and run. Great video btw. 🙂

I purchased the full video and I like it a lot. A very good add-on to aikido. I live in the EU and no guns are allowed here (fortunately); a tactical pen is the most obvious everyday weapon esp. for an office worker.

Love the uneducated and ignorant comments. You're not necessarily killing someone for punching you. use discretion, choose a different area to attack.

also to those who mock this instructor and this weapon. I will give you $1000 if you let me defend myself against you with a rolled up magazine. And afterwards you do not have severely bruised if not broken wrists, ribs and more

Thanks Michael for great videos. I was introduced to your work in an edged weapons class. You were the expert interviewed in the videos we watched. Your videos and at home training were highly recommended.

Classic fountain pens (Rotring 600 from1960s-1980s) are metal, have a razor sharp tips and are always legal when it is unlawful to carry your tactical pen.
