"Peachie Baron Saguin, The Silent Warrior

    What’s in a name?

Peer recognition is a huge accomplishment in FMA (Filipino Martial Arts). Nothing validates one’s status in the small world of FMA more than being recognized by your peers.

Recognition can take in the form of fame

    or Notoriety.

    Some achieved fame or Infamy
through their deeds which are witnessed by uninterested people and then spread around by word of mouth…"

"Propagating self-serving pseudo history and wacky wisdom had never been this easy. Hundreds of thumb-up clicks and ‘likes’ plus supportive commentaries from underlings are enough to make a mountain out of a mole. So much misinformation is zealously propagated that it’s almost impossible to separate the wheat from the chaff without conscious effort from the concerned people.

Many FMAers and non-FMAers alike, are more interested in getting involved in the illusion of grandeur and myth rather than be a part or a witness of the truth.

In lieu of this of becoming the norm, a person comes to FMA like a breath of fresh air. Her name is Peachie Baron Saguin.

    The Silent Warrior
Peachie Baron Saguin started early on her martial arts path. Typical of any young Filipino, she was practicing foreign martial arts. Until she met one of the founders of Bakbakan International.
Bakbakan International was a center of martial arts training, with founding members coming from diverse martial arts disciplines. Bakbakan was the first to embrace the concept of mixed martial arts in the Philippines. Smart in the ways of martial arts, Bakbakan adopted the Ilustrisimo system of Filipino swordsmanship for its weapons training

n 1993, Peachie was nominated by her senior brother (in Bakbakan International) Juan Miguel Zubiri to take the test required for the promotion to Black Belt. She passed the test. She was the first woman to hold the rank of Black Belt in Bakbakan. Her mentors are Grand Master Christopher Ricketts and Grand Master Antonio Diego.

(added comment- Lance doubting this in a youtube comment the video about Tatang where peachie was interviewed, the Youtube channel of that Finland Guy and Filipina wife Ruby Harell)

    (resume Original article)

"In 2005, she reached out to different FMA masters and with their cooperation, she was able to organize the first international FMA tournament hosted by Master Rey Galang of Bakbakan International, New Jersey. The event was participated by numerous FMA groups from Metro Manila and different parts of the country. Foreign players who were mostly students of Bakbakan worldwide also participated.
In 2006, she became the Secretary General and the contact person of the first National Filipino Martial Arts Association, and was part of organizing the first NFMA festival held at the Clam Shell Intramuros, Manila
As the contact person of NFMA, she was held in high esteem by different FMA teachers, instructors and masters, as she referred foreign students to train with different masters according to their preference of style.
In 2007, she organized mall tours that showcased various FMA systems and styles. This was participated by well-known FMA masters such as Bobby Tabimina of Balintawak, Rommel Tortal of Pekiti Tirsia, Jerson Tortal of Dekiti Tirsia, Samuel Dulay of MATTI, Engr. Dion Diaz of PIGSSAI, Rey Dominguez of PNP, Fil Buena of Buena Mano, Vic Sanchez of Kali Arnis International, Bert Labaniego of Lightning Scientific Arnis, Vhir Tubera of RTU and Inocencio Glaraga of Kalaki School of Kali, to name a few. "

"In the same year, she organized campus tours to encourage the young students to train in the Filipino Martial Arts instead of foreign martial arts.
She hosted FMA gatherings at her home creating a place of venue and opportunity for students as well as masters to meet up and forge firmer bond between masters and students..
In 2008, Steven Dowd of FMA Digest recognized her as Woman of the Year, because of her contribution in the promotion of FMA. FMA digest is an online magazine dedicated in the propagation and disseminating information about Filipino Martial Arts and Culture of the Philippines.
In 2009, she was again given a recognition and awarded as Master of the Pen by FMA Digest for her written articles about FMA.

(added comment – in Contrast with Nico d'Haenen with Several Written Threats VS Raul, PEachie, Richard Coley in 2018, 2019, 2020 in
The Filipino Martial Arts Forum FB Group,
    Torqui Dojillo witnessed those
KC Ice witnessed those also, especially the insinuation of Nico d'Haenen VS peachie's Punta Y Daga Bookd and The Kalahi Polymer Sword with GM tony diego signature, But Allan Fami the Maker assured it had permission!)

    (resume Original article)

"In 2011, she included FMA in her several TV programs at UNTV to create further awareness in the Filipino Fighting arts. Her TV Shows provided media coverage to different FMA events which are often ignored and generally taken for granted by popular media.
In 2014, she produced a program titled, Rise N Shine, a daily morning TV show which included a segment "Filipino Fighting Art" where she featured different FMA styles, in her quest to give FMA, the much needed media exposure.
In 2015, her show was given recognition by the Philippine Martial Arts Hall of Fame as the only program and only network that promotes the Filipino Fighting Art.
To date, she has written two books, Punta y Daga of Kalis Ilustrisimo I and II, under the guidance of her Teacher Master Tony Diego, with the aim of creating a structure that will speed up the learning process of students who wish to take a journey in the Ilustrisimo system.
The proof is in the doing.
Some people may have elaborately articulated, written, posted, and published entertaining stuff about FMA, often resulting in instant fame and recognition, but none was able to match the actual deeds and real achievements of Peachie in promoting and supporting Filipino Martial Arts in general and Filipino Martial Arts Masters in particular.

    She silently kills them all.

    The journey continues…
