Obviously this is an older video, and I apologize for bringing up dead news, but I just wanted to point out: I'm impressed at how the instructor practices gun safety (keeping his finger off the trigger, etcetera) even with the toy training gun. Very nice preparedness mindset.

  2. R Y S J says:

He spent a good 2 minutes explaining, but here's the summary: criminals are more than likely stupid. But of course, that's dangerous thinking. Always treat your opponent as better than you.

  3. looneyburgmusic says:

The other thing that a person can do when face to face with someone who has a gun is to take advantage of the basic automatic, subconscious, reflex response that every human being can have when they think someone is trying to grab something out of their hands. Especially if that person is on edge and jumpy, (as many "street" assailants often are). If you are within a few feet, and you take a step towards whoever is holding a gun, they will often, without even thinking, swing the gun away and off target, to keep it out of your reach. It's a reflex reaction that is not easy for an untrained individual to overcome. Then, instead of going for the weapon, step forward even closer, and move to trap/control their forearm and elbow, which can prevent the gun from being pointed at you again.

  4. Lloyd Nix says:

Also in alot of these training things they forget that if you start making some sort of movement the criminal could just you know, pull the trigger. End your life bap, you wana re-direct the muzzle asap because they are mostly likely going to get a shot off you just don't want that in your leg or your head.

  5. Major T. Poirier says:

Let's be honest, if you had a high IQ, weren't on drugs or weren't a complete fucking moron… you wouldn't be doing this in the first place. It's not just a lack of training, it's just stupidity in it's rawest form.

  6. Average Alien says:

The problem is, you never know who actually is ready to kill. Most of these robbers don't want murder charges and probably do not even have a loaded gun, but what if someone genuinely wanted to kill you?

  7. Leo says:

Don't think all criminals are like those niggas. Y'all don't wanna get caught up in some serious shit and get killed learn to avoid/detect those situations and run as much as possible. Ain't seen pure evil trained before. Mfs that have absolutely no regard for your life. Your getting stabbed repeatedly in the stomach in an upwards thrust if you resist to much. If the situation is sketchy like that dip as fast as possible

  8. Reverse Vampire says:

So True. Criminals suck with firearms.
They Miss. They Drop Them. Forget to Charge. Give Up when it Jams. Its True 0 Thugs were On Youtube tonight Educating themselves with watching this video' …Nope Not while theres awhole ' Internet' Stuffed to the Brim with Rap, Porn, and Anti – Caucasion Propaganda.

  9. 78a67h says:

Spot on! Not only they get close but to make their position stronger even poke you violently with the gun as a preliminary. Check out the classic Charles Bronson movie "Hard Times" and the barroom scene where using a gun demands the return of the money stolen from him earlier and strikes his unconvinced victim hard on the side of the head with his gun: "This is one way to use it (the gun), do you want to see another?".

  10. Paul Singer says:

the gun is power .just like a knife . and thats why its so easy to disarm if you know what you are doing and have no fear .. that said simple but not easy ..

  11. TheSwiftFalcon says:

I know what I would do if some criminal is dumb enough to get up close and pull a gun on me: look really scared, and give them what they want.

Oh sure, I might succeed in doing a disarm if I have the training, but there are a lot of variables there, and it seems my chances of not getting shot are way better if I comply.

  12. Håkon says:

Make no mistake: If the guy with the gun actually wants to kill you – he will. He won't threaten, he won't talk, he won't give you the chance to do anything and just shoot you. But… that is almost never gonna happen in real life unless you become target of an assassination, are involved in organized or gang crime or unlucky enough to run into a psychopath on a killing spree, in which cases it will depend on sheer luck if you survive and no level of training will do anything about it, no matter what Hollywood tells you.

  13. TheDano1947 says:

The training is good but how do you overcome the fear factor? I guy is putting your life in danger. Without reflex training, yer a gonner. Even with that training, you're facing a life threatening situation and one wrong move and you are history. Better to co operate and live then get heroic and very dead. Act only as a last resort, if he's gonna kill ya, go for broke. You have nothing to lose.

  14. crosswire7777 says:

WRONG because you wont find the failed disarm videos on youtube, videos where the guy tries to be a hero based on his 2 day tactical course, and winds up getting shot in the head

  15. antoine cogny says:

Your away from people when you have a gun because you want to neutralize they don't want to neutralize they want you to do what they want the goal is intimidation not firing

  16. David Arnold says:

so I watched this and that's 3minutes of my life I'm not getting back, WTF was the reason for this? seriously. if you have no content, don't post. just a bunch of dudes agreeing with each other.

  17. Tyler D says:

My impression of a surprising amount of comments on this video:
“Well, heck, if they’re dumb enough to get that close to me, I’m just gonna hit them with the karate slap to the goozle, whip out both of my black, powder-coated, atom-sharp, ultra serrated, spring loaded super tactical folders from my EDC and give that fool two new buttholes and a Zorro “Z” across the chest before he knows what hit him.”

  18. Arcus Diabolus says:

From where Im standing, if they mean to kill you, they are not going to get close. They don't want you to do anything and thus have no reason to get close in the first place. They probably won't even get out of their car or even stand in your line of sight when they pull the trigger. That said, if they do get close, they probably wont actually kill you, but scare you into doing something. That said, the safest thing to do is to comply with their demands and let them go, because if you engage them, you put them in a position where they would feel the need to defend themselves from you, and its here where you'd risk getting shot.

However, if you are sure they just might kill you anyway, TEAR THEIR ASS APART. You have nothing to lose and everything to save by defending yourself. Do so as efficiently, precisely, swiftly and as mercilessly as possible.

  19. J Logan says:

People in these comments need to realize that unless youre training constantly with things that represent actual force and consequences….you arent going to pull off a fancy disarm.

So before you try to go suburban rambo on someone ask yourself in the $20 in your wallet is worth engaging with someone that you have no idea what their physical ability is, what their experience and skill level is, how many weapons they have, do they have a backup partber, and also how many chances in the next 60 seconds of you fightibg them are you going to have to get injured or killed

Unlesd they are a direct threat to your life just give them the stuff , if they are a direct threat then you fight to kill and be ready for the legal ramifications.

Risking your life over your wallet bc you practiced some stuff you saw on youtube or you take a class once a week is fool hardy

  20. jatbatman says:

You said a few times "the gun is power," that power is non existent the moment the barrel is redirected. The gun would be more intimidating to me at distance. Close quarters I know there is only one direction that bullet can travel, and that's the direction of the barrel.

  21. Jizoan Zendo says:

THIS IS TOTALLY CORRECT. As a practitioner of Classical Japanese Martial Arts for 35 years I tell my students, you are not training in the most part to defeat some Martial Arts Master or Navy Seal, that guy isn't attacking you, and if he was you're dead before you knew he was anyway. The guy you are training for is the guy that does the dumb things that a rational person would not do, after all, remember rational people do no attack you in the first place! Desperate stupid people do, and they do desperate stupid things. Have been there know it in the first person. [35 years of Karate, Aikijutsu and Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu].

  22. KKDenis says:

    What if the robber thinks?
Robber: STAY AWAY FROM ME! DROP YOUR WALLET ON THE FLOOR!
    Victim: Ok, i dropped!
Robber: Now push the wallet with your leg to me and run!

I think the most important thing to note is that criminals are not terrorists nor soldiers. Maybe at one time they were or in the case of a terrorist they might be using crime as a means of getting money or test weaknesses but generally speaking they are not the same. What I mean by that is criminals are opportunists the see intimidation as a means of creating an opportunity to do whatever it is they want to do. Terrorists have a different methodology entirely and mentality. They want to further the aims of their goals. So Terrorists are more goal oriented and depending on what kind of terrorism they are engaged in they see themselves as a weapon and the victim is simply a thing and not a human being as strange as that may sound to some people. So the terrorist will probably use distance but the criminal will most likely not. Case in point the 2 most famous serial killers in History, the Zodiac Killer and Jack the Ripper, preferred to be up close and personal to their victims. One eyewitness who survived the attack saw the Zodiac Killer walk right up to him before using his gun and with Jack, obviously because he was using a knife, liked to use the element of surprise in rapid action which just means he would walk pretty close to his victim and when the opportunity was right he would cut their throats very fast and very powerful. When I say close I mean they were most likely touching which is probably why he preferred prostitutes as victims because they wouldn't suspect anything sense that would be something she would be expecting for a paid service.
